if so, is there a guide to hook it up.
If that one will not work, would this one

Hey really nice idia, if u have a no post try to jump start? :p
really cool idia though, I think if u secure it to the case well and leave only the part where u put the key it'll look very good
Yes, the second one will work. I think the first one stays where you put it (no spring return)
There's really no guide necessary, just remove and strip the ends of the two wires that are on your present case button, and screw them into the switch. Add electric tape or shrink wrap to the contacts, so they can't short against anything.
Of course you would have to make a hole where you want to mount it, and turn off or unplug the power supply to the computer first. You don't want it powering up and down while you're working on it.
Looks like a fun mod though!

that is one cool sounding mod. That would look pretty cool in an antec case (the one with the keyed door covering the drive bays)
look at the rated voltage on the key lock
would it work with low voltage output of the power switch wires?
Yep, contact is contact. There's rarely a low limit on a switch, only a high voltage/amperage limit. Only time I've ever seen a minimum rating on a switch was in a lab, and that was rated for picoamp switching in a vacuum. Not something you run into everyday.

That's a cool idea(even though anyone with half a brain could hotwire it). It would still look pretty sweet.
I used a big huge momentary toggle switch for a while. I would flip it one way for power, and push it the other way for reset. It was really cool. I wish I had a picture.
The next power switch I wanna get is one that is like the trigger on a jet-fighter or something. Where you flip up a yellow caution thingy to reveal the button. You know what I'm talking about?
or have a glowing red button under a clear cover and have a keylock on the cover :) hehe

actually i got the keystart today and i was looking to make a plastic collar to replace the metal one that came on it and i am going to mount some blue LEDs behind it and let the LEDs light it up. I am hoping it works.

i did this using a universal boat ignition switch (plastic and a neat lug type key) ~~~~~ i would check out different dealers as in marine, lawn tractors, and motorcycles for a cooler switch as they are mostly all 12v ~~~~ a great benefit of this is: IT KEEPS THE KIDS OFF YOUR SYSTEM and as they grow you then run a line of silicone on the case edge, just to check that they're not opening it up and hotwiring it!

I don't think this is meant to be a safety feature. It is mostly just because it looks cool.
In my opinion, I don't think it builds much trust between you and your kids if you lock down the computer and booby trap it.
