Due to some OUT OF NO WHERE love by my mom, she gave me money to get my new system going. I ordered the mobo, the case, the drives, all the parts for my cooling system that i dont have and some heat sinks. Now all i need to do is get some new 800mhz rdram, and my geforce4. I say 11 weeks for this to happen :) (ill just live with my TNT2 and my 600 mhz for now)

Not too shabby but the GeForce 4MX2000 I think are going to be way cheaper than when the GF3 were released so it should be worth the buck but I'd advise going so early into technology and get the Radeon 8500 since not even all games are utilizing the Radeon 8500!

I would have no idea where to find PC800 ram. Although I know Samsung is good! :)

Not bad but what chip are you upgrading too? If your going from 600mhz to something to go in the motherboard go for the 1.8a Northwood.

Im just going to use my old 1.5 pen4 and overclock it. I was reading a overclocking web page that was using this same chip and they got it 1.81ghz so i think im just going to do that. I have been looking for the ram i found it on ebay. I'm just going to get it there.

I have one question as well. Can someone tell me how to do the math (when looking at speeds...i hear stuff like 4x 5x..blah blah) on a pen4. Also anyone know any O/C pages that have new proc., i was trying to learn from this page, but your using like p2, p3 so its hard on my brain (im still a stupid newbie:p) All this tALK ABOUT FSB, VOLTAGE....it REALLY making my head hurt (i get all my gear on wed-thurs. ill be asking like 400000 questions on that day :))

Vinny, I was going to get one of those 1.5 gig P-4 chips last fall, but decided to hold out until the Northwoods came out. But, I did some research on them. Depending on which stepping you got (early 1.5 vs. a later one), 1.8 gig should be fairly easy to reach. I've heard of some of the later 1.5 giggers hitting 2+ gig even, if you have a good CPU and use excellent cooling.

The 1.5 gig P-4 has a locked multiplier of 15X, nothing you can do to change that. The default FSB is 100 MHz (15X100=1500 MHz or 1.5 gig). See, it's easy to figure out.

What do you want to know?

Were you referring to that when the P4 is using RDRam the RDRam is a quad data rate.

So your on say 100fsb default.
Your RDRam bus would be 400!

Like DDR is double data rate so AMD gets the advantage where their system are 266 based chipset so the XP are on a 133fsb default and their DDR rate is 266 which is PC2400.

VCore is how much voltage is getting to the core. A chip is equipped with different vcore for all chip depending on their stepping and brand...

so if i were to up it to lets say 1.5 - 2.0 that would mean i fsb of 133.33? (15x133.33)?If i set the fsb to 133.33 what would i want the voltage to be?
