I have a 1.4 Athlon and trying to keep it cool. Present temp is about 50C on the CPU. It is running at 1476Mhz. I have the Swiftech MC462-A heatsink and the 53cfm fan, but I feel that the room temp is now causing the problem. What I am wondering is how to cool this thing with the room temp being so high. It is 80F in the room most of the time and there is nothing I can do about that. Any ideas?

TIA

Welcome to the forums

First let me say

About all that comes to mind is evaporation assisted water cooling, ergo a Bong Cooler. Otherwise, active cooling like some of the air conditioned cases or phase change systems can be implemented. Personally, if i had to choose between air conditioning only my PC or the entire room (the same cost), I'd go with the room.

Thanks guys, I will look into the Bong type cooling. Is this the same kind of Bong that has been used for "other" things in the past?

Yes, I am serious about the 80F room temp. It is winter now and I have the heat ducts turned off in this room. If I keep the door closed, the room tempgoes up! I am almost thinking that the heat from the computer is warming the room. But anyway the room temp is something that I can't do to much about in the winter time. Maybe it will be a little cooler in the summer when I can turn on the air conditioning.

I have read on this forum that somebody had ducting (like dryer ducting) into his computer from the crawl space under his house. It is always cool under my house and was wondering if this might not be a solution?

Again, thanks for your time guys,

I have the same problem, the heat ducts are shut off in this room, but it still gets blazing hot when the door is closed for a while. If you don't mind the noise, you can just pull the sides of your case off temporarily. The idea of ducting cold air from a crawlspace is pretty good, just make sure you put some sort of filter to catch the dust and stuff.
