Ill start by saying that I love Both Nvidia and ATi.
I had a CF 4890 setup - sold one card due to microstutter/heat/noise issues
This allowed me to overclock my existing 4980 much higher (other one limited me to 900mhz)
I bought a Thermalright Trad2GTX and a VRMR1 for silent cooling on the 4890. I love it, the card runs everything great, runs cool, its silent, etc. The drawbacks are folding, and the looks. (Thermalright products look wicked, but the red PCB doesnt look so hot next to my GD70 mobo.
Recently bought back my old XFX GTX260 off my friend(best looking card ever IMO, esp with the backplate). Its a 65nm c216 version. There was a noticeable performance hit using this card as opposed to my 4890, but it looked incredible in my case, runs cool and quiet with the reference cooler.
Now I am wondering if I should sell both and get a 285 (wont look as nice without the backplate, but still cool) to use as a card for a while until prices on 5 series drop or Fermi comes out. Or I could find a GTX280 (would have backplate) but im not sure how much better it would perform than the 260.
Or I could just wait it out and get a 5 series right after christmas (hopefully prices will come down a touch).

Whats your input?

well a GTX280 performs like a 4890, you might be able to trade your 4890 + a little cash and get a GTX280 on its own. Or you could pick up a 5850 which looks BAD @SS! and get a little performance boost.

I thought about it, but I really had my eye set on a 5870 lol, its still possible.
And yes, DX11 is important to me, as I plan on playing a lot of DIRT 2 this winter!
I love to fold though!

go 5870 then! looks and performs better than anything, just is it worth the extra bucks over a 5850? it's up to you:cool:
