I usually buy a new laptop every second christmas, I bought a Asus G1S christmas 2007 so it was THAT christmas again this year that I normally buy a new laptop...

But I decided not to this year...

Reason is that this laptop run a core 2 Duo - T7500 ( 2,2GHz) overclocked to 2,7GHz 24/7 - and I didn't find one laptop that could beat it performance wise.
It's not easy to find laptop's that one can overclock - I spent a lot of time before I figured out how to overclock this one.

I can take it all the way up to +2,9GHz - but the fan will then run at 100% all the time - so I backed down to 2,7GHz for daily use because of the fan noise.

Last christmas I upgraded it with a WD Scorpio Black Edition 320GB, 7200RPM and 4GB of Crucial PC3200 - the WD disk runs very hot so I had to modify the hdd cage a bit ;

Reason for the high clock is partly because I use CoolLaboratory LiquidPro TIM - but mainly because of the modification to the cooling system ;

Put in a 128 SSD since you were gonna spend the cash anyways:comp:.

Your laptop's battery runtime will be very short!

No SSD - not before they are 500 GB :)

Battery life doesn't matter - I mostly use this lapp at work - the size matters since I work offshore on a oilplatform and have to bring it in the suitcase.

I don't game - so the 15.4" TFT 1680 x 1050 WSXGA+ and 8600M w. 256MB onboard memory is plenty for my "photoshop" needs.

I'm lurking on Ebay now for a CPU upgrade for it :D

Nice job on the modding. If a component is hot.....drill a big hole in the bottom of the system! :)

hehe - yeah - I even think it is nice looking :bday: and temperature dropped a lot ~10 degrees celsius (hole isn't drilled - is it milled btw)
