Ive had this Herc Prophet GF2 ti200 for a few weeks now and when i bought the card it said on the web site it has 500mhz certified ram.
Now when i try and overclock it 450-460 is my limit!
Ive got good case temp so am sure thats not the prob.
Have Hercules popped 4ns ram on there but undervolted it?

Ive seen a few voltage mods which envolve soldering resistors but i dont fancy risking the card :(
Is there a voltage mod for this card that you can do with Window Defogger conductive paint perhaps?

Help/advice be much appreciated,

rockhard =)

what kind of memory is on the card? Maybe they just put on enough to meet specs.

I'm in the EXACT same boat as you man, but my card will not go above 435MHz without sparkels (artifacts) which can be seen in Quake3a on the doors in the hallways on the second level.

433MHz runs great thou!

That thing were hercules says the card is ready for 500MHz memory is a load of crap :(

But I got to admit, the ram must be freezing with such HUGE heatsinks on there eh! ;)

I dont want to take the ram sinks off just yet, but have read that this card uses 4ns chips?
If this is the case it SHOULD be able to hit 500 quite compfortably as other cards with this speed chips have no problem stock so cant understand the problem?
Im very tempted to drop Hercules an email and ask them why they claim something on their advertising yet deliver something else in a round about way.
I guess they will just give an excuse like the chips are capable, just the board that isnt and hence their claimed advertising is valid, even though a tad misleading in my book :(
Oh well, one way to make sure their customers dont buy another of their cards.
Im not impressed with manufacturers that try stunts like this.
Looks like Hercules have just converted another punter to the Gainward camp :D as it will be them more than likely that they get my money, not Hercules.

Ultra-fast on-board DDR RAM, 250MHz qualified, for turbo-boosted 3D performance in games requiring large texture buffers
How would you guys interpret this? hmmm?

Same problem here with a Geforce 2ti...has 4ns DDR ram but won't go over 440 w/o artifacts/sparkles. Ramsinks didn't help any either. Mine actually performs the best at 431mhz, performance drops above that anyway.

I have the same exact problem here!!! My limit is 440 on memory.
after that my screen starts to flicker in 3dmark2001.

I have read on sharkey's extreme forum that a guy tested three of these cards and 440 was the max!!

But one of his friends flashed the bios of an ultra onto it and he was able to get 560 on the memory!!!so i am starting to think hercules did something in the bios that limits the memory speed!!

I have never tried flashing the bios on a graphics card before so i am kinda hesitant to do it. Can you flash the bios only from a hercules prophet 2 ultra or can you use nvidia bios??

has anybody heard about the ultra bios deal?? if so let me know if it worked!!

WARNING TO HERCULES GF2 TI200 OWNERS!!!

Do not flash your card to a Ultra bios under any circumstances.
Ive just donwloaded all the Ultra bioses i could get my hands on and ran them through VGABIOS to test their compatibilty.
They ALL trash the card with a pschadelic snow blizzard.
If you flash you will fubor your card.

I think the guy at sharkys mentioned above must either be dreaming or mistaken a GF3 Ti200 IMO FWIW ;)

ya...to tell ya the truth it seemed kind of wierd to me that it would work. here is the thread http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=82629.

if that doesn't work the name of the thread is "Owners of GF2 Ti 64mb...what OC speeds are you running." it was on page 19 under video cards.

i was just wondering if anybody else heard anything about this?

My Elsa Geforce2 Ti also does 450 only. At 460 I start getting artifacts...
Core goes up to 300, but doesn't do much good for my scores!

I can get 515mhz on my gf2 ti by leadtek
i used aluminum ram sink and just frag taped them on
I think arkaine23 (hope i spelled his name correctly) has his leadtek running at 524mhz ram he uses as2 i think and also superglue to attach his.
after 515 i can start to see some artifact at certain point in 3dmark 2001 se so i leave it there.
I got it up to 525 but the artifacting was bad so i leave it at 515

my Visiontek card can hit 500. I haven't tried above that because at 500 i get artifacts but the RAM sinks only have glue between them and the ram and there's barely any air blowing on them. Even with just adding some thermal adhesive i think i could get 500 without artifacts and if i had some active cooling on them then i know i could and probably a little higher.
