I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3R MB using 4-1GB sticks of Crucial Ballistix 1066 Memory. I had a problem develop about 5 months ago while trying to use slots 2 & 4 at the same time. I would have a memory failure while testing using MemTest 86. I could remove a stick from slot 2 or 4 and it was fine with only one of those slots populated. I sent the MB to Gigabyte they tested it and sent me the MB back indicating they could not find a problem. It has ran fine with all slots populated until a couple days ago, when it began having the same problem again. I cannot figure out what is causing this issue to develop again.
Any ideas on attacking this problem would be great.

I had a problem like that a while back with my abit board.. it happened to be addressed in a bios update and everything was good agian. Drove me nuts before they fixed it though.

Is your bios up to date?

Yes, I re-flashed the Bios because that is one thing they said they had done. Still no go. My new bios version is dated 3-11-09. So now I am just about to pull out what is left of my hair trying to figure out this problem.

Fill out this BIOS template w/ all of your current settings (disregard any of the settings in the template, and replace w/ your own), and post a direct link to your specific RAM showing SPD timings and voltage...

Give these settings a try, and the next time you supply a link you'll need to enclose the link in URL tags, so it looks like this...

redduc900,
Thank you for your input. I am still not able to run slots 2 & 4 at the same time using your suggested settings. I guess it is time for another RMA on this board.

Hi,

Last night I tried to add a memory stick to my ABIt motherboard. The current 1G I got says PC3200. The one I just bought also says PC3200. Both are by Patriot. I am not sure about the clock rate on the individual memory stick. After putting the new stick in, my BIOS beeps one long beep, then pause, then one long beep, it does that continuously. There is nothing on the monitor. I removed the new memory stick and try again. The BIOS still beeps in the same pattern. Can I fix this problem by resetting the BIOS? Or my motherboard is done for?

Please help thanks.

Welcome LQuan!!! But you may want to start your own thread in the future instead of jacking someone elses...

To answer your question though, yes, reset the CMOS.
