Hi there,

Due to the upgrade from vista to win7, we just bought a new graphic card for my gf pc.. the ATI radeon HD 5770 from XFX. After the install, when we tried to start the pc... it did nothing... we only get a no signal message from the LCD (no bios access).

She previously had an Radeon X1650. She has a Hp pavilion a6040n. So we tried: VGA, DVI-D single and dual. She also has an old LCD monitor.

XFX told us to update the bios, so we did update the bios to the latest version (5.23).

After those changes, we get the same message -**> NO SIGNAL !

So, we're actually thinking about changing the mobo...but could the problem be with the LCD ?!

Any suggestions to solve the problem??

Thanks a lot and happy xmas!

Oh btw: we got a new PSU upgrade + extra ram.

What happened to the X1650? Try it again...that will rule out any other component.

How did you do the BIOS update without any display output

Well, the problem with the X1650 is that there's no drivers that support this card on windows 7... so thats why we moved up to HD series.

So for the update of the bios, we had no choice to put back the X1650. We are at the latest version of the bios..everything worked fine.

After that, we tried the HD card, and it looks like the mobo doesn't recognize it. Yesterday, we also tried the card on an HDTV with an HDMI cable and it didn't work either.

Also, when I put the X1650, I've tried something... I enabled the onboard card. At this point, I could plug the monitor on the VGA exit of the onboard card and boot the pc, even if the X1650 was plugged in. So, I tried to plug the HD5750 and I got no result.. looks like it shortcut the mobo or something like that cause I can't boot the pc (got no signal on the screen).

Nevertheless, we gonna try to buy a new motherboard (with ram) cuz the ones we got runs @ 268mhz...

So is there any suggestion to solve this problem before we make the purchase ?
