alright, anyone who has seen the pics of my room knows it is a friggin mess on a good day, with 6 pc's desk top space is very limited, so i decides that i would put my printer on top of my dresser, one of the only avaible spaces that is not taken up, the problem is that it is quite a distance from my main rig, i found a 50 foot paraelle (SP?) cable, the problem is that at one end it is female, and one end it is male

would it be possible to cut the one end off (the one that isin't connected to the computer) and put on the plug to attach to the printer???

anyone ever done this??

i would like to know before i go hacking the crap out of 2 perfectly good cables

25Feet is the max distance a printer cable can be...
And if your room is so small, why do you need a 50 foot cable?

And yes cutting the cable and putting on the correct end shoudl work, just make sure you get the correct pins in the correct spot

Um, wouldn't it be easier to just buy an adapter?

50 feet is to long
25 is the max alowable distance for a printer...
and that is using good cable

If you are networked then an ethernet print server would fill the bill.

I also have a silly little adapter somewhere that uses cable similar to phone line and goes about 100 feet I think. Prints slow, don't know if it would work with a newer printer either......
