when you enable v sync there isn't any middle ground FPS left so if you playing DMC4 at say 60HZ then its fine as long as your card can output 60FPS but when you come across a graphically heavy scene and your card can only output 50FPS it will instead be cut in half and output 30FPS because you have V sync on...to counter this effect people enable triple buffering so the GPU is free to output any FPS number between 0 and the hz you are playing at

I just tried SF4 and W/O v sync the fps is around 80-90 but when i enable it the fps dips down to low 40s?
other games like RE5 doesn't get effected with enabling v sync so what gives?

thats what i know about the matter...please correct me if i am wrong

Use d3doverrider to force triple buffering it comes with rivatuner and it works with most games.

I know but i think that ATI Tool should have a similar feature...

I just finished benchmarking all my games with v sync on and the FPS cap is 85 since i am playing @ a 85hz refresh rate.....the results...

all the games played nice with v-sync so i didn't feel the need to force Triple Buffering expect for SFIV which used to give me around 80-90FPS when v sync was off....but now it cut the FPS in half (40FPS) when i enabled V sync...what gives?! :sly::rain:

and how can someone enable TB when he has AF set to on?! :sly: wouldn't they conflict with each other?
