WTF is wrong with UT

I had this problem before, but I didn't know what it was or how I fixed it. I'll play UT and in a min or so the controls will freeze but the game still plays. A min later the game either just ends and I'm at my desktop, or the game ends and I'm at my bootup screen. It's really annoying now, I need to play UT so badly. If anyone knows what this is please tell me, I havent played UT tonight and I need to get it fixed. I'm not going to bed without quick game of UT.

Have you tried reinstalling your video card drivers? It might help.

I have the latest drivers. I'm running UT in window mode until I figure out what is wrong. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with via's 4n1 drivers.

Are you running in OpenGL or D3D?
Don't know if it'll make a difference but it's worth a try?

I had a similar problem a while ago. The controls would freeze, but the game kept running. It usually happened right after I died so I couldn't respawn. Well it turned out that the game had some error message that popped up in the background, unfocused. All I had to do is pull up task manager or some windows' function to get UT to minimize so I could ok the error and then restart UT.
