Hi,
I’m going to start upgrading my pc this week, and I need some help on deciding what brand of Geforce3 ti 500 I should buy. I don’t want to spend a ton of money on it though. I’m kinda cheep when it comes to that kind of stuff. I’d rather put my extra $$$ into an AMD XP 2000+ But then I did run out and spend more than $330 on a Voodoo 5 5500 when they first came out. Go figure.
Thanks:)

Welcome to the forums,

I just wonder: Does it have to be a Ti500? The Ti200 can easily be overclocked to Ti500 stock speeds, and as you said you didn't want to spend more money than necessary that is one really good option. Here in Sweden the Ti200 comes at almost half the price of the Ti500, i.e. plenty of money for that CPU....:burn:

well, the Ti500 and the Ti200 is pretty much the same card but the Ti200 has it's clocks set lower which you can remedy by O/Cing it:) Of course the Ti200 has slightly lesser memory bandwidth, but I'd say the day you have to upgrade the Ti200 the Ti500 is out of style as well....:p

I’m kinda new at this over clocking stuff. Could you tell me how I’d go about doing that to a geforce???

it doesnt matter how much money youre planning to spend, in my opinion the ti200 is now the best deal relating to performance and price. i found out this (http://www.overclock.co.uk/moreinfo.php?id=435) store a week ago. there is the gainward ti200 model 480, this you wont find in the us market yet, its the ti200 with 3.8ns ram. its probably going to be the best deal youll find out now.

I am sold on Gainward for the ability to overclock the chip and memory. I am probably going to get the Ti450 (which is really just an overclocked Ti200) Golden Sample card.

To overclock:

Right click on desktop choose properties.
Choose the settings tab and click on the Advanced button at the bottom
Click on your video card adapter tab and choose Additional Settings from the bottom
There should be a tab called clock speed or something like that
In here you can uncheck a box to allow you to overclock, then you just slowly up it 1mhz or 2mhz at a time and test it.
