View Full Version : cooling cpu & gpu waterblocks

I'm starting to build my watercooling system and I want to use waterblocks on the cpu and gpu. Should I place a Y-adapter after the pump (Eheim 1250) and run seperate lines to the cpu and gpu and then reconnect them at the radiator, or should I just run one line?

i run mine from the pump to rad,out of rad then teed off to cpu and northbridge then back to resivor,i tried putting it in series and didnt see any temp difference

Because CPU generate much more heat than the chipset & GPU so i think you should set seperate line. But it will be cost 2 or 3 pumps.

I also use water-cooling system. There is no problem w/ the water-block but now i have problem w/ Radiator. My radiator now can not generate all of the heat so that cause water increase temp for 1/2 hour. I do cooling system all by myself. Water-block size = 5x5x3cm (w/ 2 hole 8mm for water in-out). For the Radiator i make 2 coil of Cu pipe (D=10mm), lengh of Cu pipe is about 5 meter, 01 12cm AC fan. Room temp is about 28~33C. At the moment i have to put in some ice to cool the Cu pipe for reduce the temp. It seem to work fine if use ice, about 39~42C (No condensation) and 35~37C (a little condensation on the water-block).
My system: TB AXHAR-Y 1000@1339 (9x149)

By now i feel bore w/ my Radiator. Will i have to make 10 meter of Cu pipe and 01 fan AC 30cm ??? If so, it will be more difficulty than using ice ! Ofcourse if my room is cooler, it will be fine. I may take a Air-conditioner, or maybe using a small Regfri in the future.

the temp differential in my system from when i used to use one line is about 15c, so i'd say you should split it.

split then, if you gpu and cpu produce enought heat to be watercooled then it is stupid to put them in series

Would my Eheim 1250 pump (317 GPH) be powerful enough to run the 2 lines or do I need 2 pumps? Also I'm not putting the waterblock on the videocard because of all the heat (I have no idea how much heat my geforce 2 ultra is putting out, I have it at 273/496 core/mem). I just want to make my case as silent as possible. So maybe 1 water line would work?

it won't cool the gpu or cpu to it's best temps you can achieve if you put it in series. your pump will work fine for two lines, just split it as it comes out of the radiator and then combine them before they enter the pump, assuming your flow is like this:

pump-radiator-(split)-both blocks-(combine)-pump

that would be the best config and it really works well. good luck.

I have an Ehiem 1250 now its pushing water up 4-5 feet into the loft tank and back and along about 8-9 metres of pipes plus splitting into 2 to cool my cpu, Gpu and North bridge, You really dont need to worry about 2 pumps, lol good luck its an awseome pump.
