View Full Version : OMG! How could anyone bid on this?
I was looking up some IBM hard drives on Ebay when I came across an auction selling an IBM deskstar 29 gig. This is the description:
"IBM Deskstar 75GXP 20.5GB ATA/100 Hard Drive@
Desciption:
This unit is assumed to be defective and not working. This item is a customer returned item and has not been tested by us. If you purchase this drive and it works that s terrific, if not, there is no warranty or reimbursement. Model Number DTLA-307020"
Now how could anyone bid on that? The bid's were only up to like $15.00 + $8.00 for S&H. But that's like taking $23.00 and tearing it up! 8 people put bids in on it so far.

its like gambling......the rush itself is worth it.
I have seen ppl bidding on a lot (prolly 5-7) of Processors 1.5Ghz-2.0Ghz, but the pins had been bent (almost flat on some). People were asking here if I am not mistaken whether it was a good deal.

Yah, I think one guy here DID win them, and was going to straighten the pins..............but I may be wrong.

It sucks! I wish it was me! I'm in the middle of buying a car. I can't even afford to get a CD player in it....
There's no way I'd bid on a defective item. Why others do is beyond me. I remember a few months ago I was browsing around Ebay and someone was selling a Sega Dreamcast that wouldn't read any game discs, came without a controller or power cord, and about 6 people had bid on it and the price was around $56.00
Crazy if you ask me!
I can tell you how people bid on stupid stuff like that: they don't read the entire description.

in many cases with hard disks there is a way to fix them, i know a very big company that specialises in this and can also recover data in completely destroyed hard disks, and it does all this for $50. So its not like tearing up your money, but it is a gamble
