I just assembled a new AMD 1.0 ghz T-bird system on a Soyo motherboard. Things seem to be running fine, with a couple of exceptions:
The video card does not seem to run some of my games correctly. All I get are blocky white and gray images. The card's drivers are installed, as are the via 4 in 1 drivers that came with the moboard. When installing the drivers, it gave me the options of WHQL an non-WHQL. I used WHQL, but honestly do not know the difference. The card is a Visiontek Xtasy Gforce2 MX400 64mb AGP unit. Any ideas? Some of the games run fine, but some don't.
Other issues, if you can help:
Also, my CD-ROM is a Memorex 48x. The manual says to let Windows auto detect it and load the best drivers. It works alright, but the whole system comes to a screeching halt when the CD-ROM is running. I have it set as the master on IDE2, with a CD-RW as the slave on that chain and my Hard Drive set as master in IDE1. I have to believe something is amiss, as this didn't happen to this extent even on my P233.
Also, just a minor annoyance, but the system beeps once VERY loudly when it first shows the bios screen and is booting up. I know the beeping is normal, but is there anyway to turn down the volume?
Thanks for your help!
