fan speed

is there anyway of changing the speed of my fan, i heard someting about cutting the black speed sensor wire????

If you mean slowing it down, the easiest method is to insert a resistor in the plus wire, not the tachometer wire, thus dropping the voltage reaching the fan. If you have one speed in mind, then a fixed value resistor will work. If you want to vary the speed, then a rheostat is the way to go. Look here for rheostats:
