I just finished putting together a new pc from some parts I bought off a friend, but ran into some troubles. The pc won't turn on when I hit the power button, but the motherboard lights are all on. If I unplug the 8-pin CPU power connector on the motherboard, then the pc starts right up, all the fans work, etc, except I get no video. If I plug the 8pin connector back in, the pc starts for 1/2 a second then shuts off.
I've tried re-seating the motherboard, cpu ( as well as trying a different cpu), ram, and video card, but no luck.
At first I thought it was the PSU, so I bought a brand new 850w one but still having the same problem.
Specs:
Asus Rampage Extreme mobo
Gskill 1600 DDR3 ram
intel e8400 core duo
xigmatek hdt s1283 cpu heatsink
ATI Diamond 4890 video card
Thermaltake 850w PSU
Antec 900 case
Any help is appreciated
