I am going to be build an AMD-based system (AMD Athlon XP 1500+) and I'm also going to OC it. The cooling system will be air-based. How is this for a cooling system?

4 Sunon 80mm High Speed case fans

Are these noisy? I was at side winder computers (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com) and I played the sound file to hear what the fans sounded like. But, I don't know how good of judgment this method is because if you turn up your speakers, the fans sound loud, and if you turn down your speakers, then the fans sound soft. Thanks! :D

The fans themselves aren't very loud. I've had four of them running at acceptable noise levels. The issue for me has been the noise of turbulence as the air comes through the precut grid on my case. As soon as I can swng it, I'm gong to cut clean holes for them.

So, these are good fans for OCing and the noise is acceptable? Thanks! :D

Yeah, I like them. I primarily use Sunon's as case fans becuase they're cheap, easy to find, and there are different models that have different CFM ratings. They have a 52cfm 80mm, and its a little whiny, but the others are pretty quiet.

You'll hear some wind-noise obviously, but the fans themselves are quiet performers.

I have 5 of the 50 CFM Sunons in my Antec. They cool the case to my ambient temps within my computer room. They are a little noisy but that may be the wind that they are moving.

The only way I can make sence out of the listening room sites is if I first listen to a fan that I have and then test out the one in question. At least then I can tell if it will be better or worse then what I have now.

Yes, that would be a good idea but I don't have a fan that is to be heard. So, guess that's out! Thanks! :D

Dodgeviper, have you tried to limit voltage to any of those Extra High Output Sunons? I looked at the differences between all the sunon models and it looks like a ratio between RPM, CFM, and dBA. The blades all look the same and are according to the Sunon site. The way I was figuring was get the fastest and clock it down to the level I want. And if for some insane reason I needed 50CFM it would be there.
I bet they just change out a resistor inside for the on board voltage regulator to change models. That would be the easiest and most cost effective way for Sunon to produce different models.

Just thinking . .

custoswashere, no I have not. You could put a rehostat and adjust them. I been working on going to water cooling. I have just finished my rad. Waiting on the PanaFlo's to arrive.
