I installed the commd. line client on my puter (800E intel, 512 Megs Ram) two days ago, with the old GUI client it used to do a WU in 10+hrs, now with the commd. line client it takes longer. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
looking a Seti Spy it shows that it will take 5 hrs. to do when it starts working, after a few hrs. the time goes up and up.
In the progress window it shows the Speed at about 300 Mflops when it starts processing, then after a few hrs. it went down to about 70+ Mflops.
 Any ideas?

Not sure if this happens to everyone but when my wu 1st starts at the begining of the wu does seem to progress really quick. It then slows down midway until around 85% it starts to pick up again. What is your total wu time with CLC? It definitely is a faster way to process wu's

SETI clc is very sensitite if you are using other programs when you are along with it. The default setting of the clc is low priority, so when other program is lauched, SETI is almost left without no cycles to crunch.
If you installed SETIDriver you can easily change the priority to normal. If you have more than 64 Kb of RAM, you won't notice any performace hit in low CPU utilization programs (like Word, Excel, surfing, etc). YOu will need to decrease your priority or shut down SETI for gamming of image progessing.
Also, you could have downloaded a high Angle Range (AR) WU. These units crunch slower than regular ones. As you have SETISpy installed check in the Work Unit tab. In the "position" line at the end you can check the AR of the current WU. If lower than 0.4 you have a slow WU. The lower the AR of a WU, the longer it will take to crucnh, up to 30-35% more in 0.001 WU.
If you have more questions, you can get a quicker response if you post it at the SETI forum.....
See you there.

The first WU took 12+ hrs. 2nd. one looks like it will take 11 hrs., 1/2 of this time it is running by itself. I have been using Taskinfo 2000 to set it to run at normal.
PHX: It is running an AR unit.
Thanks again.
