OK well i have noticed that after really playing around on my netbook over xmas break, installing alot of programs and deleting them that ssd performance has started to degrade. What is the easiest way to gain back that performance, a secure erase? if so how do i do that?

You can use HDDErase or hdparm to do it. Here (http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/101967/q-how-can-i-reset-a-solid-state-disk-ssd-to-a-fully-erased-clean-state.html) are instructiond for HDDErase, and here (http://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase) are instructions for hdparm.

Try an older version of HDDErase. The link is on this page:
