What do you mean it won't turn on? Will the power button even register? Maybe it's on backwards, look for pin 1. Maybe PS is shot. More info please.

You've pro'lly got the little cable from the power switch backwards on the mobo, or in the wrong place. Pull it and refer to your mobo manual.

Power switches don't have polarity. All they need is to be shorted. You could try hitting the two posts on the board for the power switch with a length of wire. I've done it. And the pins should be labeled on the board itself. Sometimes it's tough to decipher what it means.
And this might have been best placed under General Hardware.

do you have a backup system mabey you could try the mobo in there
look on the form for the way to test the psu also mabey it fried
other than that my only words of wisdome are to pull out ALL unesenual parts ( sound, nic, modem,) and leave only video 1 dim or ram ( if it doesnt work switch them) and 1 hdd
then if you get it to work keep adding 1 part at a time till you find out what the probelm is
This has happened to me a couple of times...oddly enough, it was the plug going to the floppy drive. if it's off by a pin, somehow it keeps the rig from firing up.
Don't ask me how, I just know it does... Check for this, too.
just keep messing arround. you'll figure it out. make sure everything is in all of the way. I spent about 10 hours getting my new computer set up. ok it took about an hour to set up and nine hours of yelling at windows.

*shudders at the recollection of this*

I would gander to say that the atx power switch connector is in the wrong place or is just not making a good contact . I have seen it a thousand times !

Ps: a great tip we use in the car business before swaping an engine is to take a few polaroids of the layout before we remove the engine.
What do you mean, "Doesn't turn on?" Does that mean nothing turns on no power?
You either got a hardware conflict, your front panel switches are in the motherboard wrong and go to the Abit site to find the manual for your board, or you got a dead motherboard (Happened to me static shocked it even though it showed the motherboard getting power).
Best of luck.

abits site kindof sucks because the manuals never download. what do you want know i'm sure the same pin arrays are used on most boards

On my mobo, there are a half-dozen safety triggers that prevent it from turining on.
If any wires are grounded, it won't turn on. One time my speeaker wire came off and was touching the case. took me hours to figure it out.
I need to have something plugged in to CPU1 Fan plug-in. That's a pain, because I have a 4-pin fan CPU fan.
If any cards(or drives) are plugged in wrong.
I know your not stupid, but... Make sure that your power strip doesn't need to be reset, and also check for a switch on your PSU.

Hehe, sounds like we all have a lot of experience with losing many hours over something ridiculously obvious.
At least you didn't just realize your Processor fan was on upside down.........
Good thing it is cold in the house.......

lol, mr robboto i just like a month ago realized that my deltafan was upside down, :D
K i installed my ecs kz7a and it works fine, man i hope my baby isn't broken, im gonna try to install it again. i dont understand how a mobo could brake for nothing, i doubt i fried it, but i did lightly bend some parts of it, while pushing down the IDE cables.

Also be sure your video card is pushed down all the way at the back end. I spent 8hrs figuring that one out when building the P4.
Power button is #8 and #9 of PN1. (pn1 is the jumper strip)
I'd post a pic, but their stupid pdf file won't copy from the image select tool.
PN1:
1 2 3 Power led
6 7 HDD led
8 9 Power button
10 11 SMI
PN2:
1 2 Reset button
4 5 6 7 Speaker
9 10 Suspend led
The positive wires all go toward pin number one. The ones I left out are blanks.
Hope this helps ya out man.
More than 1 way to skin a rat.....Here's a pic.
You could have also static shocked the mobo. Did you make sure you touched the case before working?

u need to solve the problem methodically. otherwise u will skip an easy thing and just keep repeating urself.
1. test ur powere supply in another pc or with a powersupply testre($12)
2. See if anything like fans work when u turn on.
3. make sure the powerswith is working, etc.
4. Did u bang it or drop it at all while transferring it?
