View Full Version : Whatever happened to Rise and Winchip?
i was just thinking back to my old processors i had and i remember having a winchip2 250mhz and a winchip3 200mhz and a rise Mp6 250mhz.
i remember the winchip 3 owning a k6300 :p cuz it has like 128kb of L1 cache.
and the rise chip looked promising, it wasnt that great but it wasnt horrible either.
anyone know what happened to these companies?
oh cmon, i cant be the only lamer out that that bought one of these to tinker with way back in the day :p
ok a new question, have any of you even HEARD of these companies? lol
im guessing most the answers will be no
they sound slightly familier...

It died. I think that IDT and Centaur were making it, then Via (Cyrix) acquired Centaur...
