OS sees floppy as a 5 1/4 ?!?!?

Anyone know why Win 98 would see my floppy drive as a 5 1/4 rather than a 3 1/2? I just did a fresh HD format and OS reinstall. (twice now) I still get the floppy as a 5 1/4.

I hope this is the right spot to put this

Well it turns out I left a floppy in my drive during the OS install so I am pretty sure this is what hosed me.

This is almost as bad as the time I installed my CPU fan upside down!!!!! hehe I RULE!!!!

Not as bad as me thinking I torched my 1800+ when I forgot to plug the video cable in. I do that way too often.

no its not from leaving something in during install.....i dont know what the problem is.....my floppy was working...i unplugged and messed around with some things last week, now i noticed mine reads at 5 1/4 also...dont use it so i dont care, but it is odd...

check your bios, they all contain the option to select ethier 5 or 3 for the floppy, could be u on the wrong 1

Floppy disk had been turned off in BIOS, thanks for the headsup. Working properly now.
