oh crap.... please help

the heatsink & fan on my t-bird is usually quite a job to put on, the little clip on the side that you have to press down on ends up popping off when i'm mounting it usually 3 or 4 times.. but i usually get it back on eventually - except this time - the clip just broke.. into 2 pieces... not the arm that goes through the heatsink to the other clip, just the little tiny clip that goes on the socket.. is there ANY way to fix this?? i'm looking at different heatsink & fan combos now.. should i just buy one? thanks for the help guys.

Is the board for an AMD CPU? If it is you can get an Alpha that uses the 4 holes around the socket. What side of the socket did the plastic break off of?

sorry for the confusion, what i meant was the clip on the actual heatsink unit. the clip on the arm that goes across the heatsink.. its a very tiny metal clip, now in two pieces.. i was wondering if there was a way to fix it or just buy another clip thingy...
