So, I picked this up last week while it was $10 off on Amazon, because GoW is one of my favorite series ever. The fact that they were remastering BOTH of them for high definition, adding trophy support, and including extras all on one Blu-Ray disc was too sweet to pass up.
I originally played the regular releases of God of War I and II on my current tv, a 32" HD LCD. My PS3 is backwards compatible, so I played them on the PS3 which also upscales PS2 games to a small degree. So, it should be noted I played the original games as they were unintended: stretched, and on a bigger tv, with the PS3 trying to do what it could to help out the image.
As I recall from a few years ago, God of War I was pretty blurry. Still a nice looking game, but it didn't age too well, what with the (then) current PS3 games. Textures looked rocky and overall it was okay, but not too pretty.
Booting up God of War I on the new collection was a completely different experience. My fears were cast aside as the image was absolutely beautiful when I started gameplay. I found it hard to believe that such a beautiful game was released 5 years ago on a last gen system. The gameplay was just how it was, except now it was extremely beautiful to look at.
The only thing that didn't transfer well were the in-engine cutscenes (not rendered). These look a bit fuzzy, but don't detract from the experience at all.
I'm almost done with the first game, and I can't wait to check out number 2. That was WAS stunning even on a PS3, and it looked better than half of the current gen games that are still are being released.
Plus, their two of the best games ever made. For those of you that have played either one, if you liked it, you really should check out this collection. You won't be disappointed. Sh*t's more brutal than anything ever before!
For those of you that have never played either one - well dang, there's no better time to dip into the series, seeing as how God of War III will be here in just a few short weeks. At $40, this is the best value you can buy for your PS3 video game console entertainment system computer device. Plus, it comes with a voucher for the GoW III demo.

As for God of War III... has anyone else played the demo? I thought it was absolutely stunning and I can't wait for more. It's even more brutal than the others. Minor spoiler, but chances are you've seen it if you've followed the game at all.
Ripping off Helios' head was absolutely gruesome. I know head-ripping occured in the first two, but this time it was completely different. Seeing it in crystal clear high definition was pretty unsettling, as you could see the threads of his skin ripping apart. Considering how great the graphics are, it felt almost realistic - and that's scary!
This game is definitely a contender for the best looking console game thus far. Uncharted 2 raised the bar, and God of War III is definitely pushing it. The scenery and level layout is absolutely epic feeling, as the past two titles have been. With awesome new graphics and more Kratos, I'm definitely pumped. I think I might even get the Pandora's Box edition. It even comes with extra GAME content! Who would have thought??
