View Full Version : Counter-Strike FPS woes

Right now im maxing out at 60fps, maybe a better word would be 'stuck' at 60fps. Obviously thats not anywhere close to the max my machine should be at, the problem is, it just wont let me go past that. I tried max_fps 160 in console, but that didn't work. Anyone know how i can get higher fps? and a higher refresh rate?

In the drivers there may be VSync on. VSync is to limit the amount of frames to the refresh rate. It's to prevent some bad stuff that I don't really know and haven't seen. If you want to you can turn it off by using RivaTuner or some similar program. You can get RivaTuner (I like it best) at http://www.guru3d.com.;)

thx arctic, i ditched vsync and now it maxes out at 100fps.... anyone know how to get more? :D well?

How do you check your FPS. What and how do you type it in. I dont know how you get the menu up to type it in either.

It's a guide that gives you a little graph in the bottom right corner of your screen. It shows your FPS, ping, and a bunch of other useful things.

Sorry bro but HL maxes out at 100fps (99 actually)

I think it's "fps_max xx" and not "max_fps xx"
I got mine set at 100fps this way (actually 99fps is the max since it starts counting from 0fps)
