Two of my folding boxes (running XP) are working on a sidechain (TYR Sidechain AMB) and when I maximize it crashes winfah.exe. Anyone else having that prob...

I wish the guys would work out all these annoying kinks.

I wish the guys would work out all these annoying kinks. Starting last weekend complaints started coming in about the same thing you're seeing. Right now all I know is that it is not good to go full screen graphical with a sidechain protein folding. This may have something to do with the video card. No one has nailed it down yet. What video card are you using?

I believe the sidechain proteins were originally built to run on linux boxes and now (with some probable modification) we get them. I've switched to the console version on all my comps.

mine runs fine as long as I don't go full screen

Yes I'm having the same problems too, and on top of that my Core_65 exe is still munching cpu power, even with the progam closed down. It never used to do that. Whats up?

I'm running a Visiontek Geforce 2 ultra card with the 23.11 drivers. I think I'm also going to switch over to the text version also. Did you go with 2.15 or 2.17. Just curious.

Same here runs fine as long as I don't maximize it. Gotta be related to the vid card or driver. Text version here I come....

I've been using the 2.15 for a couple of months now with no problems, until these sidechains came along, now I can't even get through one, without it stopping or shutting off. Then even though the little red icon is'nt even on the taskbar Core_65 exe is still running for what? Nothing as far as I can tell. Did I do something to folding@home in my last OC or what?

I just kept deleting it out of my work folder, hoping that I would get a new one.

It worked.

press ctrl+alt+del and you will will see core_65 if it's still running
try using 2.17 there is a link in my sig

You can stay with the graphical if you use Fold Monitor to check your progress instead of going full screen. When FM shows a sidechain folding, that will be your flag to keep hands off until it's done.

I just got a sidechain protien today actually. My first one, to my knowledge. The simple solution to stop all the crashing would be to run the text-only client. Its not as pretty, but it does the same job.

I've been having the same problems. Whenever I just open the graphical client with the sidechain protein it'll crash right away. I'm running windows XP and use a powercolor geforce 2 pro. :(

Its really annoying when you delete the &$W%#) work units and keep getting the same protein as well. I've only folded 1 protein the past couple days....ugh I really hope they fix this soon.

I run two of the text clients on my pc and use a program called hide it. its a freeware program so just reply to the thread if you want it or pm me. i monitor my wus with fold monitor
