I finally got my mobo name and model, and I put all the files on disk (awdflash.exe, mobo bios.bin, autoexec.bat), and I was ready to redo my bios, but when I try to get to command promt, all I get is...

Please type in the directory of your Command Interperter (e.g. C:/windows/command.com)

Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it? I almost got this computer fixed!

thanks

Ok, what you need to do is go into windows, and copy the files you downloaded to a folder. The reason you couldn't boot off of the floppy is because you didn't make it 'bootable". It's missing the "command.com", which is what give you your nice little "A>". Grab a diskette, and put it in your floppy drive the go to "my computer". You then want to RIGHT click on your "A' once. it'll bring up a menu, you want to select "format". It will then bring up another menu, with check boxes. You want to do a "complete format", not a quick (I wouldn't mess around with a quick format, if you're making a disk to flash your bios). You also want to check the "copy system files" box. You can label the diskette if you really want to, but it won't make a difference one way or another. Once the format is complete, close down the format program/window. You can now copy and paste the files you saved in the folder you created earlier, to the floppy drive. Once everything has transfered, open up the contents of the "A" drive and compare it to whats in your directory, make sure everything is there. Once that's done, you're all set. reboot your computer with the diskette in the floppy, and you should be at an "A>" prompt in a few seconds.

-----Moved post to Operating Systems-----

Like to welcome you to the forums first off but have noticed you've been placing most of your questions in the General Discussion area. While we're not going to get on to you about it now, being that you are new I'd like to suggest you take a look at all topic headings before making a post and see if it might belong somewhere other than General Discussion. Software, hardware, newtworking, etc. related questions don't go in GD. It is primarily used for computer related discussions.

It can be confusing, I agree, but it will save us extra work and you will get better help if you use proper topics in the future.

Welcome once again. :)
