Can anyone explain this? I decided to hook my computer up to the TV to watch DVD's but when I turned on my computer my temperature monitor starts going crazy and turns off the computer (above 60C). I open my case and touch the heatsink it is hot wait a little while and turn it on again thinking my heatsink fan just died but it did not, start it up and go into bios above 65C, and BIOS cuts power to CPU (celeron). Wait until heatsink is cool and now everything is fine. Then when I brought it back to my room to surf the net it spikes to 50C and then drops down to 30C. Now it seems to be at a acceptable tempterature but it is still idling about 4C higher then before.

Its possible mving the case shifted the hsf. Try reinstalling the hsf new AS and everything.

Where did you sit your computer when you hooked it up to the TV? If one of your intakes didn't have enough clearance from the floor, it could result in poor case airflow.

It is not a intake problem. I will try reseating the heatsink. I just don't know how it can act like there is no heatsink one minute and almost fine the next. I have probably moved it 100 times with no problem.

try reapplying Artic Silver if you have any. Or maybe the contact is bad. Keep trying

Hope this helps:D
