I'm not sure if my DSL modem is dying or maybe its another problem. Lately All my browsers stop loading random pages, i have to reload, or refresh to see the entire page, gets worse and worse. My Downloads stop and dont want to finish at all. I used DAP5, or the windows XP IE6 downloader, but still stuck. I tried reformatting the hardrive and re-installing windows, still there. I updated all my drivers which could relate to networking, problem still there. I used DSL tweaking programs, and registry tweaks, but nothing helps. I dont know anyone with a dsl modem so i could test it.(Everyones got cable or dial-up) Should I just contact my ISP and try to get a new modem out of them?I use bell sympatico high speed edition.
i would contact the isp, and get them to give you a new modem
it will probably be better then the one you had before (when it was working right :) )

I had a similar problem last year when running my PCI bus way out of spec. The NIC my provider sent wasn't cutting it at those speeds and neither was a DSL modem I picked up to try out. Got a better quality NIC and all was solved. If you're running at stock, though, I'd agree with ROBB and say the modem is crapping out (or the provider is).

Actually i tried to lower the fsb from 138 to 133, and that fixed it, i guess the nic is just super sensitive. I really didint think that 138 fsb would effect anything.

My Kingston NIC got so bad that 133 was too much for it after a while. It's working fine in my son's machine now, but I couldn't do anything with it for the longest time.
