The Crystal Orb has pushpin connectors that go into the two holes on your card, the Arctic Silver is a thermal paste, but they also sell Arctic Silver Adhesive that allows you to affix the Crystal orb without the pushpins.

There is also Arctic Alumina thermal paste and Arctic Alumina adhesive, they are almost as good as Arctic Silver but are non capacitive and safe for ramsinks.

AS2 will not hold it on the card. You need to get some epoxy to put it on with. I use Arctic Alumina epoxy(less dangerous).

As for the holes on the card I don't know. Do they lineup with the heatsink and if they do you should have plastic standoffs to clip into the holes to hold it in place. I wouldn't recommend screwing the fan on. If you have that then you can just use AS2 for it.

Like Sam said, the orbs are made for the hole patterns of nvidia cards so they'll pop right on the GPU. I'd use AS2 with the pushpins. The GPU doesn't have any exposed leads around it's base so unless you're REALLY sloppy you won't have any danger of shorting leads. As for RAM chips I'd definitely use the arctic alumina adhesive. I used AS thermal adhesive but masked the leads of my RAM ICs with tape and used as little as possible, and I tried not to smoosh it around too much when I pressed the sinks on so that it wouldn't squirt out from under the sink and short some leads together. This is my GeForce 3. I used a blue orb and thermaltake RAM heatsinks. The black wire coming out from under the blorb is the lead for a digital doc thermistor:

Since were already on this topic:

If you have ASII or something can you just mix it say with crazy glue? Or get crazy glue and add 4 dabs to the corner and add ASII to the middle/around it?

Both methods work.

wouldn't the crazy glue melt?

Nah, they don't get hot enough...and they'd need to get pretty hot to melt krazy glue.

There is an article on the front page in Video Card Cooling/Performance titled "GeForce 3 Extreme Cooling" in which the author peltier/water cools and volt mods his GF3 GPU and reattaches the RAMsinks with a mix of epoxy and AS2. I said super glue would work but I've never tried it myself. I know that it doesn't melt at a low temperature and it fills pores very well. Suspending AS2 in a mixture of another adhesive works as long as you get the AS2 density high enough so that there's enough silver in there to conduct the heat all the way through. This makes me think that it'd work fine, but if you're in question then AS or alumina thermal adhesive is your best bet because the silver's already mixed in there.

Donny thanks for your advice but I got Arctic Adhensive coming in the mail my way soon so I guess that method is no longer an option since this one is much easier/safer!
