I've overclocked These cards before and the most they do is about 200/200, give or take 5%.. Well Yesterday I got myself a New Geforce 400MX. The Brand of the card is Jaton. So I'm expecting to get around 200/200 clocks.. and this card totally made me **** in my pants.. This card is a 32MB version with 5.5ns M-tec SDRAM. Ok folks.. I believe I have a world record on my hands.. I was able to overclock this card to 255/270!!!! If anyone else has got anywhere close to this please let me know. I never though SDRAM would clock so high. And for those people wondering, yes I made sure it was clocked at that speed. I ran multiple test to compare 175/166- to - 220/210 -to -255/270
and the results show the scores scale according to clock speed. This is AMAZING!!! Jaton makes amazing quality Video cards. I've been able to get there TNT2 M64 card up to 170/210 from 125/150. So everyone out there can compare there scores to mine here a little something
3Dmark2000
1280x1024 in 32bit Color(all max settings) I got 3420 3Dmarks.
Please note that I am running it on a 900MHz athlon with 128MB RAM. I think at 1280x1024 the card is really put to the test. Idiots who compare scores at 640x480 in 16bit are wasting there time.
At default clock speed the card only got 2040 3Dmarks..
Again if anyone has got there 400MX card clocked higher than mine, please let me know, if not I believe I hold the highest overclocked card ever!!
I invite anyone who has a 400MX card to benchmark it at 1280x1024 in 32bit color, triple buffer.. and we can compare scores.. in 3Dmark2000

Gee I could only wish. My card has 7ns ram on it so I cant even go past 145 on the mem without artifacts.
I have my Geforce 2 MX 400 at 275.6 Mhz core and 207.6 Mhz memory atm. It runs rockstable with no artifacts and without crashing. I lapped the core btw that helped a lot. It woudn't go higher than 245 Mhz core before :)
Oh and at default benchmark settings I got 5015 points in 3DMark2000, and 2976 in 3DMark2001
I am running an Duron 800@1070 at 133Mhz FSB, and 384 MB Sdram. The only overclocked things are the gfx card and cpu, pci bus etc. are at normal levels.
Ok at 1280*1024 I got 2745 points in 3DMark2000. That's due to your higher gfx memory bandwidth as that is the bottleneck in my system :p
The highest I had mine to was @ 220- Core 230-Mem. It was an Innovision GeForce2 MX400. My 3D Mark 2k score @1024x768 Default Benchmark was about 5300.
I don't have it any more as I got a GeForce2 PRO therefore I cannot do any tests @ 1280*1024
I just bought this jaton Geforce mx 400 for $100(canadian) from my comp store, and I can`t get into the overclocking area of this card. it just won`t let me. I ran coolbits and tried different utilities, but got no where. My freaking TnT2 M64 overclocked easier than this crap, im not very happy right now with this card . I know It has great potential because I ran Return to castle wolfenstien in multiplayer with the FPS counter on and I was hitting 50 fps as an average. I have my cpu overclocked from 900mhz(celeron) to 1ghz with 112mhz fsb, and im running 256megs SDram. I know my system will run better than this, but I just can;t get it to. :( one thing that might be doing it is my main board. I bought a chaintech motherboard about 4 weeks ago and I have been having some trouble with it ever since. I won`t get right into the trouble im having with this mainboard, but believe me I`ll never buy chaintech again.

Problem is probably with the MB not the vid card. Chaintech's are notorious for being pretty unstable.

As you could imagine that`s not what I wanted to hear. Is there any way to make this work. I really wanna run tribes2 and RTCW with a higher screen size and higher frame rate.

Well my mate beat this...or I did with his card:D
His MX-400 @ 175/175 hits 300/295 with stock cooling and NO ramsinks. (NO CASE COOLING EITHER!!!!!)
I was s******g my pants.
I'm still in shock but I think thats an overclocking record!!!
Unfortunately he doesn't really care and would rather put a heater on it to fry it rather than boast.
Sad really.
Yes it was 100% stable!

Try lowering your CPU overclock a notch or two, then see what happens.
ok, went back to 900 mhz but left my FSB at 112mhz. :D I got the overclock thingy unlocked now , but when i over clock it my screen goes from a nice 1024x768 to a real screwed up looking screen. Looks like im looking through a glass pop bottle. lol

I have a Celeron 900mhz. It`s about 2 or 3 weeks old. :D The pop bottle problem I had went away all by its self. I dunno why but It won`t do it any more. I just rebooted and it was fixed. lol Gotta love Win98se. I have been having all kinds of troubles with win98 though. Like for example, I was on a web page and all of a sudden for no reason Return To Castle Wolfenstien just started up. I didnt click the icon to start it, it just wanted to be played. lol
Good job! I remember a thread back then it asked the GF2 MX users how high they clocked and lots got to 260core easily for some reason while with my old card I can only hit around 215/215/
Now with the RMAed I got the same card just that a magic series.
Its 220/400 with a lapped heatsink on it with no fan and no ramsinks!
Hows that for kicks!

Amen brother!
The first time I went to the 3dmark site to compare I saw scores like 17000 (mine were ~5900, unoverclocked at the time) and I was all like, "FCUK! I bought a piece of crap!" Then I realized it was all 640x480x16 so I felt better.
The ti4600 are still kickin my ass though.

wow, I started this thread in Feb, now it's april..lol it's nice to see people still responding to it. Some people asked about the overclocking tool I used.. well they all worked for me.. from NVmax to coolbits.. i had no problems. And someone who said that Jaton card are ok quality.. In every budget system I build I use the TNT2 64 by Jaton.. and 8 of the eight card I bought did a minimum of 150/200.. and default is 125/150... that's quality for you. I got some of them up to 170/210.. for a $34 TNT2 that's great.. Jaton earned my respect.. If you want to know the worst card to OC.. look no further than the Apollo brand.. HORRIBLE.. They ship cards below stock speed..lol Joytech is also another name the go under... good luck to all of you..

I'll throw in a historical word for Jaton, I've got a couple of Trident based PCI cards from them that I have had running at up to 45Mhz on the PCI bus, no problems, and the 2d performance at those speeds I have not seen equalled. Okay, I lie, my Cirrus based VLB card on a 60Mhz bus does better, just, haven't seen better on PCI. Probably AGP cards may beat them now at 2D, but who cares.

Roadwarrior, I also agree with that.. I have 2 old PCI 4MB jaton cards.. and the 2D on those are is Amazing... I know it sounds stupid to somepeople.. but it's true.
