So I am still using mye old 8800Ultra.
But I have also a 4870 laying about, is it worth the swap?
I am planning to buy a new GPU in about 6months anyway, so I just want to hear from u guys if it is worht it?
How much better is it really? Irt has less memory than my Ultra....512MB on 4870

The 4870 is definitly better/faster than the 8800 Ultra. On low resolutions they might be a little close but the higher resolution you go, the greater the gap is. I'd use the 4870 for those 6 months. If you like ATI options better than NVidia ones, then it is definitly the way to go.
If you play on low resolutions and like the NVidia options better then you could stick with the 8800. Regardless the 4870 is better.
Here is a review that may have influence on your decision:

The card proves to be better than the 9800GTX+ on most games. I believe the 9800GTX+ is better than 8800 Ultra as well.

If you want better performance, go with the 4870. It takes a couple of minutes delete drivers in the safe mode, a few minutes to swap out cards and 5 minutes to install new drivers (assuming you already downloaded them to the desktop). What's the trouble?

Exactly, I'm with bda on this point. It's no hassle at all for 6 months to be honest.. I'd even do it for a week. My advice: Put the 8800 Ultra out for sale and use the 4870.
