do i need a graphics card that supports dvd playback to play dvds?
can anyone reccommend a good cd-rw/dvd rom combo drive please.

No you don't. All you need is an ordinary graphics card and software like PowerDVD or WinDVD. Normally one of the software packages comes with the retail version of the DVD drive

it will pause and skip frames SOMETIMES. From my experiences u need at least 256megs of ram, and at leaset a 600MHZ processor to get good quality. But yea drobb2 is right, basically any card will play dvds well, because basically all cards on the market have some kind of dvd playback acceleration. My brother in law has a 300mhz laptop with 64mb of mem and it runs DVDs great.... dunno how it does it

mopmatrix, probobly because he has a dvd decoder in his computer.
