Here's my setup: Cable modem to a D-Link 4 port wireless router. The 98 machine is connected directly to the router. Downstairs I have a Win XP machine on a wireless card.

The problem: I can see my 98 machine from the XP machine. I shared my music and pictures on XP. When I go to Win 98 Explorer it won't let me see the network and tells me "The network is not accessible." Okay...

So I go to Tools/ Map Network Drive and pick a drive letter "O" for example. In the next dropdown for Path my XP machine is there but when I attempt to map it tells me "O: to \\computer name\Shared Docs not logged on."

Now I know the connection between the 98 machine and the router are good because I get the internet fine.

When I first set this up I ran the Network Wizard on my XP machine. I also made a floppy from that program for the 98 machine. Both are in the default "mshome" group.

Looks like real useful info and I was guilty of #1 Don't run Win XP's Network Setup Wizard. Any suggestions how I would undo this on my 98 machine? :eh?:

go though all of your settings and make sure they are what you want/need. There is no easy way out other then rolling back your systen to an earlier restore point.
