everthing is working fine except,it won't shut off my monitor in "power " in display properties,it's a brand new Phillips 107T 17" monitor and a clean install of win2k,it shows "default monitor" in "monitor type" in display properties, and it won't let me into monitor properties in order to install the correct drivers for the monitor,my main objective is to get the "power off" feature working ,it's not working right now,I have it set at 20 min and it does not shut off.this is one of two win2k boxes I have and I can get into monitor properties on this one.does this make sense?

would think its something to do with needing to instal those drivers and or the PNP
try installing from right click my computer
then manage\device manager\monitors

on this box it the monitor is in "device manager" and in display properties it says "plug and play monitor",and I can click on "properties" for the monitor.
but on the other 2k box,it does not show up in device manager and it shows up in display properties as "default monitor",and I cannot click on "properties".
this is the root of the problem I believe.
how do I force the plug and play monitor or atleast new drivers into it? I can't get into "properties for the monitor to change it.
and I found all this out because the "power off" for the monitor will not work.

yes,it's an old voodoo3 and it's working good, and I have the latest for it,but I do need to double check directx, thanks,, :)
u could try to trick it and plug in a different monitor(if u have one) let 2k detect it, then go to device manager\monitor and driver tab hit update driver
when u get your screen where it gives you the "have disk" option, ie dont let it auto detect
go ahead and unplug your monitor and plug in the new one then hit have disk a load the new monitor drivers
also could put in another monitor 2k detect then shutdown and put in new monitor and see how it detects it and at that point hit have disk
could work?
but also could be a voodo driver issue or dir x

the problem was in the voodoo drivers. :)
