hey guys im slightly new at this so if u could help me that would be helpful. i posted a similar thread earlier but no reply so trying again. right now im using the standard heatsink fan provided with my amd 1.4 ghz and im running about about 43c idle and 49c load. i wanted to get the volcano 7 soon and was wondering what u guys thought of it? i've heard mixed reviews about this. ive heard its good/bad and loud/quiet?

also i was also planning on adding the panasonic panaflow 120mm to the side of my case to add extra cooling. what are your reviews on this? it says that it comes with just bare wires or i can get the molex connector for extra $$. which one do i buy? when i mount it to the side of my case, would i just need to drill holes for the screws? or would i have to drill an entire hole through the case to maximize airflow and get the 120mm grill?

sorry for all the questions. if no one replies i guess thats what i get for being a newbie. anything would help thanks.

I've never actually seen the volcano7 up close, but it looks like it should do the job. The real question is, which Inwin mid-tower case do you have, and will the HSF fit in it? I have an Inwin A-500, and because of where the powersupply is located, I couldn't fit my Alpha PEP66 in. As for the 120mm fan, I'd get the one with the molex connector. And yes, you'll have to cut into your case to get the air flow. Check out the "Alternative Modding" section of the forums for ideas about increasing airflow, and some great how-to posts.

u mean i still have to cut into the case even tho its blowing air in? should i place it direclty over the volcano 7? or should i place it directly below it? man im not sure if it can even clear it on the other side since i hear the panaflo is pretty think. oh yeah i've got the inwin S500 mid tower ATX case

This are some reviews of the Volcano 7.

With regard to that 120mm fan, try shopping at www.sidewindercomputers.com. They have good prices, and deliver super quick, IME. The fans come in different thicknesses, as well.

And yes, you need to cut a big hole in the case if you are going with a 120. I have 2 of them...
