I am using an iMac with DDR2 667mhz ram. Currently only have 1GB which is :bang head:bang head:bang head

Is it best to used paired sticks ie 1GB + 1GB.
Or will going with unmatched sticks 1GB + 2GB yeild optimal preformance.
Looking at newegg.ca 1GB sticks are about 25$ and 2GB sticks are 45$, which will yield the best bang for the buck?

First, go to http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/index-imac.html and look up your specific Mac model to see how much maximum RAM it can handle. For example, no PowerPC-based iMac supports a 4 GB maximum of RAM, most max out at 2 GB, early intel-based iMacs have similar limitations. If your iMac can handle it, I recommend going with the 2 GB sticks over 1 GB sticks.

I know it supports 4GB (officially) its a 2.0Ghz core 2 duo.

I need to know if core 2 duo chips like matched pairs for preformance or if more ram with an unmatched pair is best.

Answering to myself: no it wont work 'cause my iMac only goes with DDR2 and those are DDR3.
So now my question would be: where can I find DDR2 @1066MHz? If there is any out there, that is...
