View Full Version : What kind of keyboard do you use?
Although this isn't really important. I have a Microsoft Natural Keyboard at home, then today I went to my brothers house and he had a Keytronic keyboard he picked off from work for free. I started typing on the keys on air and it felt way smoother than my keyboard like it was as smooth as keyboard keys.
And I think Im going to grab it from my brother has those thing are nearly 75% cheaper and they feel better!
What do you use?
I guess I took a brand name over quality!

Werd, feels like I'm typing against rocks! Although right now I'm on my brothers labtop and damn this keyboard feels nice best touch typing I've ever done!
I don't understand why would want a cordless keyboard as you spend all your time infront of the monitor unless your sleeping on your bed and navigating with the keyboard (Who knows!).

Bender your link doesn't work.
Anyone know a keyboard that is like a labtop keyboard? Very slim keys and very easy to touch type unlike the big keys where your actually pressing down awhole lot.
i love my microsoft natural keyboard, this is the 2nd one ive owned cuz i wore out the other :p
i can type way faster on this than a normal square keyboard
i dont like keyboard where you cant even feel the keys being pushed (aka laptops), i gotta feel the typing, plus it give your fingers excerise :p
I was wondering how can you wear out a keyboard? My dad has an antique keyboard and it feels like new and I tried plugging it in to get the feel of typing since it feels great but the port are the big old ones :D
I think I'm going to bring home this Keytronic or something I love typing with it. Really gets me into typing other than the Microsoft Natural Keyboard! I feel the power...
I can actually type better too with about 98% accuracy!

beleve it our not I use a ergoic Genrel Electric keyboard with hot bottons. I did not even know GE made keyboards. It is an alright keyboard, and I like it. Cost me only like 24 bucks. much cheaper than a M$ natrual keyboard. same shape though.
My foavort is the keyaboard on my topsheapa satalite 486 laptop. very nice. only the thing is the delete and backspace are in the wrong spot. I do most of my word procesing on it. I can sit on the couch and do my home work at the same time!!

Logitech Internet Navigator. I really like this keyboard, loads of features hot keys, even got a wheel on the side that you can set to do different things.
Only thing I don't like about it is that is' white. And the cordless version is black...why not make them both black???

i have a memorex keyboard with hotkeys for email, IE, calculator, DOS, sleep, shutdown, etc, but i never install the software because its just one more thing that gums up my system. besides, the only button i ever use is the email button and that works without the software for some reason, so i'm a happy camper. keyboard has never given me problems and i can type really fast on it without errors.

I have a black IBM kb on my main computer. I don't really care for it but it matches. I have a M$ Internet kb on another computer which I really like plus a Mitsumi kb on the HTPC which feels slim but only types OK. I also have a Keytronic one which needs a bath. :p

The original MSFT natural keyboard, the new ones have keys that are too slick for my preference. Its the best keyboard I have ever used and love it to death. It better not break, or I will go into a tissy.

I have a Micro-Innovations "Micro-Millenia", a BTC multimedia, and an Aopen generic keyboard. I'm lookinf for a replacement for the Micro-millennia, but the only thing that comes even close is the BTC "Fingerprint". Which is way too expensive.
mine is the natural keyboard either, which in my opinion just takes to much of space. next will be something close to a 114keys regular version. microsoft has the internet keyboard; it looks so much more sweet than mine and it has all i will ever need.

I'm using a black Belkin Ergoboard. Took a while to get use to the split keyboard. Only problem I have is a little worn, dull section about 2 inches long and quarter of an inch wide next to the left and up arrow keys. Intense gaming:D
Seems like 70% of the people here have the Microsoft Nautural Keyboard! :D
I'm starting to love this KeyTronic! Bender: The link seems to work now, I've seen those keyboards but the colours are horrible and I'd take blue or crystal clear if I had to choose one.
I got to bring this thing home today!

Tried the Ergonomic ones, didn't like the shape.
I've got two that have extra buttons and stuff, but don't use the software: either support is built into the os (usually) or I skip it. I need the resources for more important stuff:p
I use cheapos: I spill something or otherwise break 'em evry year or two anyway!

I got a Logitech Internet Navigator, its really flat, and keys are nice.
Roger, I know what you mean by spilling something. If I counted, I spilled these things alot: Coke, coffee, and food!
I personally dont like the Microsoft keys they just are too big and hard and I can't touch type properly. I like Logitech's basic keyboard you can just touch the keys and it'll type. I should have went for a Logitech keyboard over the Microsoft but the Microsoft caught my eye by its brand and looks first.

Those MSFT keyboards require too much pressure to push down the keys.. Bad for someone who already has RSI (as I found). I use a standard keyboard that came with my Micron P1-166 (but I can't touch type anymore due to RSI). As for angled keyboards, I like the feel of the Logitech ones a little better than MSFT.
If you got money to burn and really want to avoid RSI, take a look at www.kinesis-ergo.com these keyboards let you use your thumbs for many of the keys. Also look at www.tifaq.com and goto "alternative keyboards" for a wide variety of crazy keyboards :)

I'm with you there rogerdugans, over the years I've gone thru quite a slew of keyboards...if they don't die by gaming frenzy, they die due to spills or drops. I get the cheapest I can find...and then I beat em to death and get another...
The present one is a MicroInnovations black board, a little tight on the dimensions, but standard fare...Nice n CHEAP...$17
Whip it, whip it good...:D

THAT is my kind of keyboard---I'll take a dozen!
Hehe. I couldn't snatch the Keytronic from my brother since it was from his work!
But I snatched one of his spare Microsoft Natural Keyboards and since it is new it does feel great.
But after a month this thing will wear out considering how much I spill and how much I type everyday.

All the new keyboards are junk, none have a good feel to them. The ones I use I have had for around 15 years! They are old IBM keyboards and also 1 by Focus. These are not the membrain style found today but have a real mechanical switch under each key. You may have heard these before as they make a little click that can be felt and heard when pressed. BTW every one of these boards is still good as new. How long do you think the junk that they make today is going to last?
My favorite keyboard is the one that came with the system I got at Computer Renissance. It has a great feel to it, and the keys have just enough pressure for me so I know I'm pressing a key without really having to press much before it types.
Of course, they marred the awesomeness by placing the [print screen / scroll lock / pause-break] row RIGHT OVER the [insert / home / page u] row. It SUCKS! I keep hitting pause break instead of page up
Guess that's the price of a great feel...
