sadly, at alot of shops the 160 is 450 and the 40 is about 100 on sale. so it is kind of a farce, typical newegg crap. I generally dont buy from them anymore. the price really isnt that bad but dont like the misleading.

there is always a newegg ssd fiasco, just look at their prices. everyones prices are way over retail and it drives me nuts.

I picked up my 80GB G2 x-25 ssd, not on sale, for like $220 from some random no-name store. Newegg still had it for $280+ on sale! (and it's still currently $300)

I love newegg's customer support and buy from them all the time, but now instead of placing my entire order there I have to consider other shops first. It's not like it used to be when you knew newegg would be the lowest price, have free shipping, and good service. Now they are generally one of the highest price etailers.

Noticed that happening within the past year. Newegg is no longer low priced for a lot of hardware, they rely on their reputation now; many people still say they'll buy from newegg even at their current prices because they deliver fast.

Annoying for people with a finite budget though.

deal is cold - even if you sell the 40GB drive, you're still paying over MSRP for the 160GB drive.

what if you buy the drive, send it back, could you keep the 40GB? even if you had to cover a 15% restocking fee for the 160GB, it'd still be around half the price of what the 40GB SSD would cost.
