I've been checking out the forum for a few days and reading the beginners guides and I think I'm ready to try my hand at this crazy stuff. I have a AMD k62-500 chip on a GA-5AX board. The thing that is holding me back is lack of knowledge about how to monitor everything. It seems that mos of you use a Windows program to moitor everything. I use Linux and I haven't found a program to help me keep track of everything. Does anyone here know of such a program? My board doesn't have sensors so I may be out of luck anyway.

Without sensors, you are probably out of luck. For reference, I have heard about a program for Linux called ls_sensors.
Of course, you could always buy and external temp monitoring device like a compunurse.

What about cpu speed? How do tell what speed the cpu is operating at?

I'm glad to hear you have read the beginners guides! :) They are the backbone of this forum. As for your chip, it is very stubborn. You would be very lucky to get over 600.
