This my personal feelings about the best drives. I'm using a TDK 24x. I love my 24X because it comes with Burn Proof Technology. Out of 4 months of using it, I've burned maybe 8 total coasters (due to software set up or data being burned)

Another burner I like is the plextor. Also a great burner but a lil more expensive. You could say that TDK=AMD and Plex=Intel. Thats what I've notice with the price but both are good burners.

Plex is about to release a 40X. Sounds great but who makes 40X cdrs? Thats the question and what will be the sticker price?

But please believe I will get purchasing a 40 when its released and 40X media is avaliable. (Can Preorder for 209 at plextor's site) http://www.plextor.com/english/products/40_12_40a.html

As far as DVD ROMS, I have an AOPEN and works fine for me.
