hi guys i have a core i7 920 d0 stepping, and corsair h50 my idles are 38-39 degrees celsius. is that right? or should it be lower? if i get push pull will it get lower?

no its actually underclocked due to speed step at 2.4

and do i just go by core#0 temp or do i take the average of all cores?

Idle temps really dont mean much. What are the LOAD temps, like under Prim95 Torture test, Large FFT? Just keep it under 80C load and all will be well.

Yes, a push/pull combo would help. Check out the Front page article on this cooler. ;)

k i did it for about 20 min, the small fft, and it got to 52 degrees celsius

Depends on the program you use. Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 will use all 4 cores but ignore the hyperthreaded cores. Premiere Elements 8.0 will use all 8 of them (and extremely effectively too). I don't know about other software but would expect all the mainstream recent video editors to use them.
