Hi I built a new PC in October 2009. While I play games(Mass Effect 2, AVP demo and others) and watch movies with VCL player or windows media player and sometimes youtube, my computer slightly freezes or stutters, the sound seems distorted like it's catching up and usually I have to control alt delete to get it to unfreeze. The computer works lightning fast and has no other problems when running any other applications.

Any advice would be appreciated Drivers are up to date but didn't help at all.

My set up is : I5 processor (no OC)
8800 gtx BFG OC2( used oven trick, successful but symptoms occurred with previous gfx card aswell also nvidia)
4gb corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 ram
Asrock p55 pro mobo
hard drive 500G|WD WD5001AALS
im using a 530 watt psu thats hella old i cant afford a new one yet( prolly like 5-6 years old)
Antec 900 case ( great for cooling)

The psu and gfx are used but the rest was purchased brand new

Can you measure the 12 and 5 volt rails with a digitalmultimeter? Let us know what the readings are.
Have you replaced the thermal conductive paste on the gpu on the video card?
