Hi there!

I have overclocked an i7 920 to 4GHz (200x20) (Which is very stable.

My ram is 6GB Kingston HyperX 2000MHz CL8. With the above overclock, the bios (GB GA-EX58-UD5 v. F9) sets it to 1600MHz 10-11-11-29 on auto. The voltage is set to 1.66v

My problem is when I set the multiplier to 10 to get 2000 MHz. it wont even start. All LED's and fans are on for a blink of an eye. Then i'll have to clear the CMOS. Only the timings are on auto.

CPU, Ram and HDD are all watercooled.

I tend to think it's my power supply. It's a 500W (I exploded the 1200W i already had, with som of the water-stuff :bang head). I've found another cheap one though: http://www.shopitonline.dk/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:2573359;c:36217. It's 274,5 USD.

I plan to upgrade my GTX260 with a couple of fermi cards next month.

So is it me that can't overclock or is it some of my components?

In order to hit 2000MHz you'll need to bump the QPI / VTT Voltage to somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 - 1.55V+. If the chip is a D0 stepping then it may require a little less voltage, but I would use 1.5V as a starting point. As far as the timings, manually set the four primaries (CAS Latency Time, tRCD, tRP, and tRAS) to what Kingston spec's the RAM to run at 2000MHz, i.e. 8-8-8-24 at 1.65V.

1.5v? ARE YOU CRAZY!!!? That's far deep in the red zone. The auto settings for QPI/VTT is 1.175v. I've sat it to 1.275v, it boots but no post though.

Any other suggestions?

Okay I tried 1.5v on the QPI/VTT and more, it posts but comes up with a BSOD when windows loads. I've manually set the timings 8-8-8-24 at 1.66v

CPU oc still the same. How come I can't make this work?

i'm having similar problems myself.

dominater gt ddr3 1600 7-7-7-20 1.65v per manu specs

920 200x20

so i popped in the manu specs with a 2:8 ratio and cpu vtt 1.7v which is all i dare. it will i lowered the bclk to 150 and it booted fine...of course i don't want to stay there.

i was considering going past 1.65v on dram but ram is so easy to break i'm afraid to do it.

i'm going to start stepping up the bclk and see how close to 200 i can get. i'll let ya know if i actually make it
