I was told to OC through my FSB in Bios for my DDR memory. I cannot find that option anywhere in Bios

It's called system/pci frequency on that board.

How far can the motherboard memory be pushed before heatsinks are needed for them?

The only thing with memory is the voltage you use on it.
Up to 2.8v is ok without adding any cooling.
When you raise your fsb you are overclocking your cpu, memory, pci and agp bus.
Just make small steps and check temp's and stability then another small step until either your cpu temp gets too high or your system becomes unstable.

What a sign that its too hot?
btw What does bus actually mean..

On a xp cpu under 50c full load is ok on a t-bird 55c.
When a cpu starts getting too hot it will become unstable.

A bus is how devices communicate to the cpu.

You can read more about bus systems if you want here:

So your saying that upping the FSB freq will actually put more heat on my cpu? doesnt the memory get hot too, i saw heatsinks for DDR at thermaltake ---thanks for the help btw:burn:

Your cpu speed is determined buy your fsb speed and the multiplier.
Raising either one will cause the cpu to run at a higher speed and produce more heat.

You don't need to worry about the memory unless you start putting more voltage to it than its specification of 2.5v + or - .2v or 2.7v.

actually the onboard memory is what I had in mind when i started the thread :p But i will OC my Cpu soon anyhow since the A7V266-E is supposed to OC friendly.

Is it really necessary to up the memory voltage? Ive got 256 DDR

I think you only need to up the volts if the memory is unstable due to OCing.
