Well,
It is official! I am unlocked! I have the Multiplyer set at 12.5 133x33! I did it! I had to set the voltage higher (I just maxed it at 1.85 V)

XP 1900 (1692mhz)
FSB 141x35
Sandra Math Test
Drystone 4461
Whetstone 2335
1.75

XP 1900 (unlocked) (1678mhz)
FSB 133x33
Sandra Math Test
Drystone 4635
Whetstone 2319
Voltage 1.85

One question. I am not having an easy time playing with the FSB. My first try was to goto my old 141x35 in the bios. That resulted in the PC not posting at all.

Any thoughts why I cant get the FSB back to what it was after unlocking?

I ask cause I have less Mhz than when I was locked & oc'ing with the FSB.

I will run a 3dmark test too:

Locked & FSB OC'ed - 7752 (GF3 at 215 & 485)
Unlocked & No FSB OC - 7679 (GF3 at 215 & 485)

Any ideas why I cant seem to OC the FSB anymore? I really only tried the "usual" 141x35 (nothing less or nothing else).

My specs are as follows:

Asus A7V-266E
1900XP
2 256 Crutial DDR Ram
GF3
Adaptec Ultra 160 card
SB Audigy
3com Nic
2 maxtor HDs (one 8 gig oldie & a 80 gig new one)
1 Ultra 160 Cheatah Scsi drive
1 scsi CDrom
1 scsi CDR
1 Nick lock
Many many fans
320 watt power supply

Again the only thing that changed to the setup is I unlocked the processor & increased the Vcore.

Thanks,
Rich

what voltage is your ram at. might up that a bit. let's see. your default multi is 12 right? 141x12 (1.69), 141.12.5 (1.76)
that's quite a jump.
what are your load temps? you might be better to try and lower your multi to 11.5 and try for higher fsb, maybe around 146-8 and run some benchies there. you'll get higher perf from higher fsb's.

I am not exactly sure how to check the voltage of my ram. I have it set for 2t but I dont think thats what your talking about.

My question is, how come at 1600mhz the FSB could be 141, but at 1666mhz the FSB wont work at 141? Is the multiplyer causing some sort of problem?

I also am not sure if my processor is totally unlocked. I am having problems booting the system at different multis. 12 & 12.5 definately work though.

ya, better bandwith with lower multi and higher fsb! try stock multi and up the fsb as high as u can go and also like mentioned if u can up v-ram, up it a click or too!;)

Does it make any difference if the Multi is set at stock settings & is locked or unlocked?

The highest I could get my system going when locked & with the 1900 was 141FSB.

I guess I am not understanding why I would unlock the chip & leave it at the stock multiplyer (12).

I have the system unlocked & running a whopping

was 1692 (locked & FSB OC'ed)
Now 1712 (unlocked & FSB mildly OCed).

What benefits is the extra 20 mhz? Would I be able to OC higher with the chip unlocked (fsb wise)?

higher fsb = higher performance for the entire system. so if the highest fsb you could get at multi of 12 was 141 you can back the multi down to 11.5 and try fsb of 142, 143, etc. to see if it's the cpu holding you back or something limiting your fsb. keep going like this (lower multi higher fsb) till you find the highest fsb your system will run at. also it is imperative (sp?) that you keep up with your temps. if your proc is getting hot that could be why you can't get any faster than around 1.7. seems to me these xp's are so sensitive to temp that just a couple degees mean a bit more o/c, and mine totally craps out if it gets up to 54 or so....
