Hello ppl.
I'm going to change my psu since I'm getting some wierd voltages (+5v@5.64, +12v@8.63:eek:). It's a noname 450w psu. I'm thinking of a thermaltake tr2 500w modular for the job. My current specs are q8400@stock, p5qpl-am, 2gigs 800mhz, 3drives, 1 dvd-rw and an nvidia 9600gt.Oh and a 2fan controller
My question is, since I'm going to buy sometime on the next month 2 more fan controllers and I'm gonna install a total of 9 fans inside the rig, will this thermaltake do its job?
I'm looking for a very-low-budget-psu just to do the job I'm going for

Yes that would do the trick, but look at this link they are re-certified psu's but they do come with a warranty. They are good bang for the buck.

Welcome!!!

I would check out the PSU guide in my signature and see whats on the 'approved' list and see what your location offerrs. Cant go wrong with Corsair. 550VX will do the trick.

Another +1 on the Corsair. You also cant go wrong with Seasonic or Antec Power supplies.

I would get a Seasonic 300w for your current setup, it has plenty of juice for what you have (24a 12v), it runs $36 before shipping from newegg.
If you intend to get a higher end GPU in the future and/or overclock seriously, step up to the Corsair CX400w, it has 30a of 12v, and runs $54 shipped(+tax in cali :() from newegg.

very-low-budget-psu

Be careful with that mindset :) low budget and psu don't exactly belong in the same sentence. The suggestions offered above are all solid, If you don't plan on running a power hungry gpu in the near future the 300w will do fine. Just remember that alot of people don't realize how important the power supply is to a system. It is the basis for overall stability, don't skimp on it :D

They are kind of like tattoos... Good ones aren't cheap, and cheap ones aren't good. Def check out the link in Earths sig though, good info in there.

Yes you're right. Never thought about going for higher gpu card in the future so I'll have to think about that too for the psu. Plus I want to go 3.5ghz on the cpu if I can manage that. Since the 400w corsair is not available in my country I have 2 options for the job.The 450W modular which costs 85€(about 110usd) and the 550VX modular at 94€(127usd). Since I'm not a very serious gamer(I play a lot but not very very graphic demanding games) I won't be going for a gtx285 or so, so i think with the 450 corsair I'll be fine. It gives 33A@12v. Very expensive in Greece though :|
So with my current psu the system doesn't run as it should? Will the rig run better and/or faster with the new one? If that's it, maybe I'll get one tomorrow lol
So goes the low priced thermaltake lol

Damn I always thought that a powerful psu is a powerful psu. Never thought that a 300w psu can outrun the 450 I have :|

If I were you and was thinking that in the future I would be swapping out GPU's I would consider going with a much better PSU

You should be safe enough with the 450w Corsair it's worth the money
