I can read cds but it wont write. Hopefully someone can help me out here.

Heres my email to plextor support.

I recently installed a a Plexwriter 16/10/40A into my system and I'm having several problems. I did a full install of windows 2000 with this drive in. It reads cds fine but when I tried installing the Plexmanager 2000 I wasn't able to write cds with the disk dupe or Clone Cd and Easy CD creator which came with my drive wouldn't even install. Durring the install, it kept giving me "internal error 2755" and then it said the ECDC5B.msi file had problems.

Another thing I found strage is that in the device manager it says my drive is PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W1610A SCSI CDRom Device. When I would think this should read out as an ATPI IDE Device.

I'm running Windows 2000 on an Abit VP6 board which I believe uses the VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset and I do have the VIA 4 in 1's installed.

I have my two hardrives on IDE 0 ata 66 cables.
I have my Plextor burner and my IOmega 250 zip on IDE 1. The plextor is set as master and the zip is slave. I used a ata 33 cable for these two devices.

I'm not postive what is wrong since I could never get the Easy CD Creator software to install since I believe I got a bad disk.

you have the wrong drivers installed get the latest drivers from plextor.com, get the firmware too while you're at it.

it was a software thing. im using my friend version of ezcdcreator now and it seems to work. i'm going to see if plextor will send me a new cd since mine was crap.
