I want to add a "hardware master volume control" so I can control the volume from a few additional buttons, lets say, on the outside of my case or wherever I want to put them.

I have seen this done with the SB Live! Here's a link (http://www.bit-tech.net/article/54/)

I took out my Audigy and looked at it, and there is a 4 pin connector (with pin two not there) that is labeled "J8." I have the cheapo (OEM) version of the Audigy. I forget what it's called (MP3+, or gamer???).

Has anyone else tried this?

A google search turns up empty. A forum search turns up scratch. Everywhere else I can't find jack.

I have nothing to do today. This would be one great way to waste time!

Thanks!

I decided "what the heck" if something is wrong I'll only blow $70.

I get this thing hooked up to my "radioshack learn electronics lab" and have it connected to two of the switches, just like it says in the BitTech article.

Here's what's supposed to happen:

Button 1: Volume Goes Down
Button 2: Volume Goes Up
Both 1 and 2: Mute/Unmute

Here's what happens:

Button 1: Volume goes DOWN
Button 2: NOTHING
Both 1&2: Mute/Unmute

I'm thinking that it could be a driver thing... not sure. Any ideas?

Everything is connected right... that's why when I push both buttons it mutes. If it didn't mute, then there would be something wrong with one of the switches.

I may try the older drivers later and see if that clears things up.

i just bought a M$ keyboard that has the volume buttons at the top. Works without any hassle

i have no idea why this is not working.... it really should work, it could be a small, inexpensive mod, but i can't do it until i really know it's going to work....

I guess my $14 OEM Logitech keyboard isn't the best. Awww...:D

I have a nice memorex keyboard that can mute and raise/lower volume level. Cost $20 at best buy :)

Tried some different drivers, and it still doesn't clear this up.

And, noooooo I'm not gonna buy a new keyboard. I love my keyboard, thank you very much....
